In this interview with James Turk, who has 40 years of experience in resource markets, he warns that Greece is a "ticking time-bomb" which will affect the world. Greece is insolvent and unable to pay even a miniscule portion of the debt it owes. Yanis Varoufakis, the new Greek finance minister states that Greece needs debt forgiveness not more debt. On February 28th, a new 7 billion euro loan is to be released as part of the ongoing bailout. Varoufakis says, "it is time to stop pretending that old loans are being repaid when all the troika has been doing is to use new loans to repay old loans."

When the Greek ticking time-bomb explodes, people will awaken to a new level of understanding counterparty risk. Turk suggests that dumping Greek debt will affect the debt of other insolvent countries which is almost all of the Western world. Counterparty risk is the risk that the other party in an agreement will default. Remember paper asset investments have counterparty risk. Tangibles such as physical gold and silver that you hold personally are not subject to counterparty risk.
